Exercise of the Week: Dumbbell Chest Press

Dumbbell Chest Press

This is a great exercise to tone triceps (grandmother arms!) and to burn fat and build muscle in the chest and anterior (front) shoulder areas.
1) Sit in an upright position on the ball with a DB in each hand. (You may rest each DB on the corresponding thigh.)
2) Start position: Lie on your back and bring the DB’s to your shoulders.  Your legs should form a 90 degree angle at the knee bend.  Keep your torso straight and flat.  Press the DB’s up directly above the chest with palms facing forward.
3) Lower the DB’s keeping your forearms close to your body and your hands aligned at the nipple line.

This is one exercise I have been yearning to try but am afraid that the ball may roll while I press.

Don’t be afraid! You will get use to the ball. It will help your balance also. Go for it!

What the heck…..The first time I sign into your blog I see the exercise for this week is directed at “GRANDMOTHERS” arm. Is this a sign or what??
I know now that I am at the right place, at the right time. Thanks…I will put my other buddy which is my computer on hibernate and try the exercise right now.

I sure need help with my GrandMa arm’s. The only thing is I have a bad back and can’t lay on the ball like that. Is there some more arm exercises that you can show me where I can stand with the dumb bells?
